Marvel Splash Rain Boots, $39.99, Famous Footwear.
Rain boots covered in Romance Comics are just the thing to cheer up this dreadful weather in Boston.
: What happens if you fall in love with a writer?
Lots of things might happen. That’s the thing about writers. They’re unpredictable. They might bring you eggs in bed for breakfast, or they might all but ignore you for days. They might bring you eggs in bed at three in the morning. Or they might wake you up for sex…
Too much pink? No such thing.

BRITNEY’S STYLE: I would describe my style as being lazy, Californian, and vintage. I don’t feel like myself if my clothing is forced or uncomfortable… Everything my style embodies is easy, comfortable, and almost ALWAYS second-hand. For me, buying new clothes takes away all of the creativity in dressing uniquely. Of course there are wonderful designers out there making rad new clothes, but my budget doesn’t allow for those purchases at this point in my life… So I hunt for amazing things that I CAN afford at thrift stores and vintage stores. The thrill of the hunt is something I’ll never grow tired of.
INSPIRATION: My inspiration comes from two main sources: the beach and anything and everything psychedelic. Those two things create the highest emotional response for me, which ends up translating easily to the way I portray myself to the world.
STYLE ICON: I really don’t look to anyone specific for style inspiration. Honestly, if I see a girl with a surf board running into the ocean, that could be a million times more inspirational to me than looking at photos from a runway show… It just depends on my mood. The ongoing photo inspiration on Tumblr is something I’ve recently gotten into, and it is truly addicting and inspiring to be constantly provided with beautiful imagery at the click of a button.
WHAT ASPECT OF FASHION APPEALS TO YOU THE MOST? The aspect of fashion that appeals to me is street style, simply because that is what I can afford and what I’m able to participate in. I don’t have much interest in high fashion at all, but I still appreciate it for the art form that it is, monetary issues aside.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WINTERTIME ACTIVITY? I HATE winter!! I recently visited Portland, Oregon and was pretty bummed the entire time because of the dreary, cold, rainy weather. If I was forced to live somewhere with an actual winter, you’d probably find me indoors most of the time, curled up by a fire playing board games and drinking whiskey with my friends.
STAPLE ITEMS FOR WINTER: I’ve recently been accumulating a lot of winter gear, as I’ve finally accepted that I do need to dress warmly once in awhile, no matter how much I dislike it. I love oversizes knit sweaters and faux fur coats.
NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS: My resolution for 2012 is to stay true to myself, which means I need to be spending MUCH more time at the beach- surfing, hiking, swimming, etc. I feel like being near the ocean is a way for me to cleanse, center, and calm myself from my hectic LA lifestyle. I work as a designer’s assistant at UNEARTHEN, and am currently in the process of opening up an online store with my best friend and fellow blogger Madeline, so its easy to get caught up in a big ball of stress and lose myself completely. Forcing myself to disconnect from the city and connect with nature really is my cure for stress. My second resolution is to try, for what seems like the millionth time, to go vegan. I’ve been vegetarian for 8 years and really need to practice a lifestyle that I am 100% proud of, which means not consuming dairy products or buying new leather. I feel like if I accomplish these resolutions, my life and mind will benefit greatly. Basically, I just want to finish morphing into a crazy hippie who’ll end up living in a rain forest with pet monkeys one day.
